Description

An examination of the role of international and comparative law, including the laws governing multinational enterprises; foreign investment; money and banking; and sales of goods, services, labor, intellectual property, transportation, financing, taxation, and dispute settlement. Reviews the most important international organizations, from the Bank of International Settlements to the World Trade Organization.

Objectives

  1. Evaluate the implications of international business transactions on individuals and organizations.
  2. Distinguish between the theory and practice of international trade and international investment regulations.
  3. Identify the main agencies with oversight and control over international trade and laws, including the World Trade Organization, the International Monetary Fund, and the World International Patent Organization.
  4. Discuss the cultural differences in international contracting and trade policies.
  5. Synthesize the body of knowledge related to international commercial dispute resolution.
  6. Analyze the effect of ethical issues in international business law on organizational management.
  7. Define and assess e-commerce issues and the future of international law.
  8. Discuss the effect of international business transactions, laws, and culture on career opportunities.
