Description

Provides students with an understanding of the complexity involved in the planning and design of recreation and sport facilities. Sport facility management also includes staff management, facility marketing, developing revenue streams, development of ancillary areas, as well as facility scheduling and operating.

Objectives

  1. Recognize the basic principles related to sport facility planning and management.
  2. Interpret industry standards for sport and recreation facilities.
  3. Discuss emergency management policies and guidelines created to address public access risks.
  4. Analyze standards used to educate professional staff, independent contractors, and the public using sport facilities.
  5. Identify design and construction regulations.
  6. Identify the major trends impacting the planning and management of sport facility equipment.
  7. Examine ways to create facilities that are compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  8. Classify the different components of indoor and outdoor surfaces and components of sport facilities.
