Introduces basic concepts of human anatomy and physiology. The topics covered include, medical language, organization of the body, review of the cells, tissues, and membranes of the body. The body systems covered include skeletal, muscular, integumentary, cardiovascular, lymphatic, immune, respiratory, nervous, sensory, endocrine, gastrointestinal, urinary, and reproductive.
 

Outcomes

  1. Demonstrate an understanding of the core concepts of anatomy of physiology.
  2. Compare and contrast the structure and function of cells, tissues, organs, and organ systems of the body.
  3. Explain the major chemical elements located within living systems.
  4. Analyze the relationship between homeostasis and survival.
  5. Identify and use proper medical terminology for describing anatomical position of the body.
  6. Identify the major body cavities.
  7. Categorize the cells, tissues, and organs located within the body cavities and membranes.
  8. Examine the structure and function of the organs located within the skeletal, muscular, integumentary, cardiovascular, lymphatic, immune, nervous, sensory, endocrine, gastrointestinal, urinary, reproductive, and respiratory systems.
  9. Identify the common signs, symptoms, and illnesses associated with the structure and functions of the skeletal, muscular, integumentary, cardiovascular, lymphatic, immune, nervous, sensory, endocrine, gastrointestinal, urinary, and reproductive and respiratory systems.
  10. Recall terms that describe diagnostic, surgical and other treatment techniques associated with the skeletal, muscular, integumentary, cardiovascular, lymphatic, immune, nervous, sensory, endocrine, gastrointestinal, urinary, and reproductive and respiratory systems.
