Description

Examines all aspects of the criminal justice system from an organizational perspective, evaluates criminal justice agencies and organizations in the larger environmental context. Includes analysis of external organizations, public interest, and state and national policy and explores the changing and expanding role of the criminal justice system.

Outcomes

  1. Evaluate various types of public policy and public ideologies.
  2. Compare and contrast internal and external influences on criminal justice public policy.
  3. Assess the role of criminal justice public policy with law enforcement, the courts, and correctional systems.
  4. Evaluate the role and impact of public opinion and policy on criminal justice laws, sentencing, and rehabilitation over the past 50 years.
