Description

Provides a foundational understanding of emergency medical services (EMS) education for the EMS manager. General concepts such as learning styles and barriers to learning are discussed. Other course components include developing instructional goals and outcomes, curriculum and lesson plans, and various forms of learning aids, including how technology enhances the learning process. Finally, this course also reviews education evaluation tool development, concepts of program administration, and legal aspects of instruction.

  1. Identify learning characteristics associated with adult learners.
  2. Summarize the characteristics and skills of an effective Emergency Medical Services (EMS) educator.
  3. Contrast facilitation of learning and delivery of information.
  4. Differentiate between instructional goals and learning outcomes.
  5. Analyze advantages and limitations of media to enhance education delivery.
  6. Discuss the importance of educational evaluation tools.
  7. Evaluate accountability in education as it relates to program administration, accreditation, risk, and liability.
